"Ontological Data Mining from Blog Entries Focusing on User Interests"
Mr Makoto Nakatsuji - NTT Network Service Systems Laboratories, Japan

Recent concerns about context-awareness in offering ubiquitous services, for example, offering appropriate content to users in accordance with user situations such as the time, place, interests, or properties, necessitate efficient semantic analyses and handling.
We devised a method that extracts user interests by analyzing blog-entries.

We define a new concept "innovative topic" that is new and interesting to users. We establish a new type of recommendation by detecting innovative topics, even though they are not included in the user profile.
We extract and recommend innovative topics for each user from other users'
blog entries. In this way, we try to increase the activity of blog communities by letting users view those recommended innovative topics.
