"Web an Wireless Geographical Information Systems: Research Advances and Perspectives"
Prof. Christophe Claramunt – Director of the Naval Academy Research Institute, France

Recent advances in the development of Web, Wireless and Internet technologies have generated increasing interest in the diffusion and processing of geo-referenced data. The Web, Wireless and Internet devices offer novel ways of accessing and analysing geo-spatial information, favouring the diffusion of geographical and semantic data to large audiences and the development of new applications. This leads to new challenges and opportunities for the Web engineering, computer science and geographical information science communities. This talk is intended to provide an up-to-date review of recent advances in the development of Web and wireless geographical information systems. We will discuss and cover recent progress in the development of the semantic spatial web, visualisation and analysis functionalities, and applications to geographical and virtual worlds. The talk will be illustrated by recent research and industrial prototypes.
